(a) From Stazione Roma Termini (Main Railway Station)
Taxi: This will cost approximately 15 Euro. Take only an official yellow or white taxi cab from the rank in front of the station (straight ahead from the platforms, through the booking hall and on the right-hand side of the piazza); ignore touts for unofficial taxis.
Public Transport: Tickets valid for 75 minutes on buses and for one trip on the Metropolitana cost 1 Euro. The entrances to the Metropolitana are marked by a large white 'M' on a red background. Buy a ticket from the machines, feed it into a turnstile with a green light on it, and follow the signs to LINEA B, direction REBIBBIA. Get off at POLICLINICO. Then go up onto the street (Viale Regina Margherita) and catch a tram going northwards. Two trams/buses travel on this route: the 3 bus ("direzione Valle Giulia/Piazza Thorwaldsen") and the 19 tram ("direzione Piazza Risorgimento"). The 3 bus conveniently terminates outside the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, which is next to the School. If you catch a 19 tram, check the 'you are here' indicator at each stop or ask a passenger to tell you when the tram reaches Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna. In general, public transport runs between c.05.30 hrs and 23.30 hrs (but there are exceptions): there is a night bus service which covers part of the route of bus 3. |

(b) From Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) Airport
Train: Turn right as you exit arrivals and follow the blue signs to STAZIONE FS (train). Tickets can be bought from machines, the ticket office or the tobacconist in the station. Tickets must be stamped in the machines at the barrier to the platforms to validate them. There is a direct express link from the Airport to the stazione Roma Termini, which takes approximately 30 minutes. The approximate cost is Euro 14,00. Trains run from 06.36 hrs at approximately half-hourly intervals, leaving every .06 and .36 minutes past the hour, until 23.36 hrs. Walk forward of the train and take a taxi or metro (as above).
If you have lots of luggage then it can be easier to take a train from Fiumicino to Stazione Trastevere (approx. Euro 8) then get on the 3 bus which starts there and terminates just below the School.
If arriving at night: after the rail link at Fiumicino has closed, take the airport bus to ROMA TIBURTINA. The ticket counter at the airport is on the right, about 20 metres beyond the end of the arrivals barrier. You should punch your ticket in the machine at the rear of the bus seating, as you enter the bus. The cost is approximately Euro 4,50 or Euro 7,00 on board. There are four buses running throughout the night, at 01.15 hrs, 02.15hrs, 03.30hrs and 05.00 hrs. Then take a taxi from Stazione Tiburtina to the School: approximate cost Euro 15,00.
Taxi: If you prefer to take a taxi from Fiumicino to the School, the cost will be approximately Euro 50,00. Be sure to agree the cost in advance and use a Rome registered taxi, NOT a Fiumicino one. |

(c) From Ciampino Airport
There are currently several companies running a comparable bus service into the centre of Rome, including Terravision, Sitbusshuttle or ATRAL (tickets for Terravision should be available either on the plane or on arrival at the airport for about Euro 8,00 one way, Euro 14,00 return, Sitbusshuttle and ATRAL tickets should be available on the bus for between Euro 4,50 to Euro 6,00 one way). The buses depart at regular intervals and arrive in Via Marsala or Via Giolitti, both very near the Termini Station.
Otherwise, take the bus which links the airport with the Metropolitana, Linea A: the station is called ANAGNINA. The bus runs approximately every 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the time of day, between 06.50 hrs and 23.40 hrs and costs approximately Euro 1,20. Tickets can be bought on the bus. Metro tickets cost 1 Euro. Take the metro from ANAGNINA to SAN GIOVANNI. Then take the 3 bus ("direzione Piazza Thorwaldsen") which terminates outside the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna.
If it is too late at night, you will have to take a taxi all the way to the School - it will cost about Euro 50,00. Be sure to agree the cost in advance and use a Rome registered taxi.

(d) By Car
If arriving from the north (A1 autostrada), take the ring road (GRANDE RACCORDO ANULARE) going towards SALARIA-FLAMINIO-FIUMICINO-CIVITAVECCHIA (not Pescara-Aquila-Napoli etc.). Take exit (USCITA) 6 "Roma Centro-Flaminio" (a white, not blue, sign), follow "Corso Francia" signs, over the Ponte Flaminio bridge and continue on the flyover well beyond the bridge, turning right at the far end to join Viale Maresciallo Pilsudski. At the junction of Viale Maresciallo Pilsudski with the Via Flaminia/Tiziano, turn left, along the Via Flaminia to Piazzale Belle Arti. Go up Viale delle Belle Arti and almost immediately there is a junction to the left (beyond a church on the right-hand side), to Viale Bruno Buozzi. Take the first turn on the right-hand side of the Viale Bruno Buozzi as it goes uphill, beyond a flower stall, and you are in Via Gramsci. The School is about 200 metres along on the left, facing a semi-circular terrace. |
